Grid loads

Grid loading is a type of loading which is applied to a position on a grid surface. Load is not applied directly to elements, but is distributed to elements surrounding the load, depending on the span type.

Note: Distributed load is in equilibrium with applied load.

The following shows how the load is distributed if the grid surface is one-way or multi-way spanning.

One-way spanning

span-direction

Multi-way spanning
