# Volume Clipping

To identify the entities included in a volume,

  • Set the cursor mode to “Volume” .
  • Drag the mouse to specify a rectangle (elements within the volume are included; when Ctrl-dragging the mouse, elements within the volume are excluded.).
  • Use Ctrl+mouse wheel to specify the near and far extents of the volume. Ctrl+rotate moves the near plane of the volume; Shft-rotate moves the far plane of the volume; holding the mouse wheel down while rotating refines the increment of movement.

The view may be in any orientation at the time the volume is specified since part of the definition of the volume is an axis set which is constructed internally, based on the orientation at the time of forming the volume. Whether an element is within a volume or not is determined by the current Reference point of selection items setting in the Sculpting Preferences.

Several volumes may be defined at once at different orientations, some inclusive, some exclusive. The included entities are the sub-set of entities included in all the volumes.

A volume is undoneby clicking in the Graphic View when the cursor mode is set to Volume. Each click removes the most recently specified volume. Shft+Click removes all specified volumes for the current Graphic View.
