Results charts
The Charts views provide graphical insight into section behaviour under combined loading. These include interaction diagrams and Moment-Stiffness-Curvature charts.
Interaction diagram
When you open the Interaction diagram tab, a 3D interaction diagram is displayed showing the relationship between axial force and moment.
You can use the controls below the chart to:
- Adjust the grid offset
- Trim the surface at the current cut plane
- Switch to wireframe view
Load points and status
Load points applied to the section are shown directly on the interaction surface.
This provides an immediate visual check of section capacity.
Adjusting the cut plane
You can change the moment angle by:
- Moving the slider, or
- Entering a value directly
On the right side, a 2D interaction diagram is displayed.
This 2D diagram is a slice taken at the current cut plane, which is highlighted on the 3D diagram.
Understanding the 2D diagram shape
The 2D interaction curve may not appear perfectly smooth or symmetrical.
This is because the 3D interaction surface is a faceted approximation, and the 2D diagram represents a direct slice through that surface.
Moment–Moment diagrams
You can switch to a moment–moment (M–M) diagram by selecting MM under Diagram type.
When in this mode, you can:
- Adjust the axial force
- View the corresponding moment interaction behaviour
ULS and SLS surfaces
Additional surfaces can be displayed by interacting with the legend, including:
- ULS no-tension surface
- ULS no-compression surface
- ULS balanced yield surface
- SLS cracking surface
The SLS cracking surface indicates whether a load case causes cracking:
- Load points inside the surface are uncracked
- Load points outside the surface are cracked
Copying load points
You can copy the load points from the active 2D chart by selecting Copy data.
- The points are copied to the clipboard
- You can paste them into external tools (for example, spreadsheets)
- Points from all active charts are included, such as ULS and SLS cracking surfaces
More charts
Under the More charts tab, you can view:
- Moment–Stiffness-Curvature charts
As with the interaction diagrams, you can adjust:
- Moment angle, or
- Axial force
to explore section behaviour under different conditions.
