# Enveloping
Where a case to be output is an enveloping case and the data can be enveloped the output produced consists of the maximum value and minimum value and a reference to an envelope permutation number that produced the maximum or minimum value. Note the reference to envelopes in the Output summary section.
By default the envelope is produced for all components. It is possible to specify that the envelope be of a particular subject component in which case other components are output as the coexistent values for the permutation that produced the maximum or minimum value for the subject component.
Refer to the Output Settings: Further Options documentation for details on how to specify this.
The scope and limitations of envelopes are described in Enveloping in GSA.
