GSA 10.3 Release Notes

What’s new

GSA-Compos integration

Design composite steel beams directly in GSA using the integrated Compos engine. Define composite beam members in the design layer, assign shear stud properties and web openings, and run composite design checks , all without leaving GSA. Available slab widths are automatically calculated from connected slabs and beams. Composite beam design section has more information.

Compos 8.7.1 or later is required for this integration.

API all-outputs extraction

Extract all model outputs and results to CSV via the COM and .NET APIs. New output specification options, increased significant figures, and a dedicated OAT-to-CSV writer enable automated data pipelines.

Deprecated explicit solver and pseudo-RSA

The explicit dynamic solver and pseudo response spectrum analysis have been removed. Existing models containing these analysis tasks will have those tasks removed on opening. The SQLite export (OaDB) option has also been removed.

Build 10.3.0

July 2026

Modelling and set-up

New and improved

  • A new composite beam member type is available in the design layer for modelling composite steel-concrete beams. [GSA-8566]
  • Web openings can be defined on 1D members, with full graphical representation in wireframe and extruded views. [GSA-8576]
  • New shear stud properties table and wizard allow definition of stud dimensions, spacing, and material grade. [GSA-8577]
  • 2D load panel member attributes have been extended to support composite design, including physical properties, decking orientation, and slab reinforcement. [GSA-8579]
  • The design specifications window now supports composite steel design codes (EN 1994-1-1:2004, AS/NZS 2327:2017). [GSA-8581]
  • Available slab widths are automatically calculated per composite beam member from the surrounding slab geometry. [GSA-8583]
  • A support portal link has been added to the Help menu. [GSA-8986]
  • A new What's New screen highlights recent features on startup. [GSA-9164]
  • Updated 3D Brick element sample file with 3D member. [GSA-9188]

Fixes

  • GSA no longer shows invalid material codes in the 2D property wizard, which previously led to a crash. [GSA-9983]
  • GSA installer now correctly includes libcurl.dll. [GSA-9892]
  • GSA installer no longer incorrectly includes gss_test_library.dll. [GSA-9974]
  • GSA installer now includes vk_swiftshader_icd.json. [GSA-9980]
  • Steel grade issues with "undefined" grade have been resolved. [GSA-10108]
  • UB section centroids are now correctly reported at (0,0). [GSA-9554]
  • Sheet pile sections now have the correct dimensions and properties. [GSA-9575]
  • Secant pile sections now have the correct shape and resulting properties. [GSA-9585]
  • Tapered section plastic modulus now reports the correct value along the element, not just the end 1 value. [GSA-9497]
  • Tapered perimeter section torsion constant is now correctly calculated along the length. [GSA-9500]
  • Torsion constant "C" is now correct for tapered sections. [GSA-9504]
  • Double angle sections with toe radius now include the top toe radius. [GSA-10028]

Analysis

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where strut and tie elements could incorrectly carry forces. [GSA-7570]
  • Fixed incorrect load calculations on tapered elements. [GSA-8966]
  • Fixed an issue in axisymmetric analysis where properties defined in non-global axes could give incorrect results. [GSA-9418]
  • Improved performance of analysis tasks with 1D prestress loading. [GSA-9685]
  • A clear warning is now shown when incompatible E, ν and G values are defined for isotropic elastic materials. [GSA-9745]
  • Fixed an issue with node axis rotation in the consolidation solver. [GSA-10128]

Results & Output

New and improved

  • Environmental Impact contours can now be viewed for 1D and 2D elements. [GSA-4664]
  • CSV data extraction now supports output specification options. [GSA-9537]

API & Automation

New and improved

  • Analysis tasks are now fully available in the .NET API. [GSA-7843]
  • Node acceleration and velocity results can be extracted via the .NET API. [GSA-5578]
  • Compos files (.cob) can be generated from the design task for further review in the standalone Compos application. [GSA-8847]
  • Increased number of significant figures in CSV data extraction. [GSA-9538]
  • New OAT-to-CSV writer for automated data export. [GSA-9541]
  • Customisable CSV export options are available. [GSA-9882]

Fixes

  • GlobalResult.ModalStiffness now returns the correct value for model stability analysis tasks instead of the eigenvalue. [GSA-6207]
