Time Step

The explicit solver calculates a critical time step based on the natural frequency of the mesh. For stability the time step must be less than this. By default the time step is set as a percentage of the critical time step, but a user defined time step can be specified. To ensure stability nodal masses can be adjusted, but a maximum mass scaling factor should be specified to avoid too much divergence from the real inertia characteristics of the structure.

Progress Dialog

This displays a dialog with summary information for the analysis. Note this slows the analysis, so is more useful as a diagnostic tool.
