Advanced Solver Settings : Reduced Integration
In an explicit solution the time taken to process elements is the most significant factor in the solution time. Reduced integration allows for a faster solution by accepting a less refined integration scheme. This mean that the elements are not stiff in all modes of deformation so are liable to 'hourglassing'. Consequently hourglass control is needed to stabilize the model.
Definition
Use reduced integration (this will override the 2D element formulation)
This mean that instead of full integration of the elements a simpler integration scheme with fewer integration points will be used leading to a faster solution.
