RC Beam Layouts

The RC beam layouts specify the parameters which control the placing of bars in a beam. In GSA there is a distinction between a layout which offers parameters to determine an arrangement which is a specific set of bars at given positions. The design of an RC beam will replace the current reinforcement in a section with a new arrangement that is selected based on the parameters specified for the layout.

Definition

Name

Layouts have a name to make it easier to identify a particular layout.

Rebar Material

Only a single reinforcement material can be assigned to a layout.

Beam/Cantilever

The option of beam or cantilever gives either three or two positions respectively

Left, Middle and Right

The bar sizes that can be considered for the positions along the member, at both the bottom and the top of the section. The order of the bar sizes are the order in which the bars will be checked, so if the preference is for larger bars these should come at the start of the list. By default one layer of bars is considered but this can be increased as required.

Links and Cover

The positioning of the bars is constrained by the cover and links.

Reinforcement in Flange

For beams with flanges, such as tee sections, there is an option to include reinforcement in the flange or keep the reinforcement in the web zone of the section.
