Design Wizard

Once analysis has been carried out GSA can then proceed to member design. The Design task wizard allows you to automate section design and RC member reinforcement design. The design wizard can be activated by:

  • Selecting New Design Task from the Design menu.
  • Opening the Design Tasks page in the Cases and Tasks folder in the data explorer, and selecting New Design Task from the right-click Context menu.

A Design Task is collection of specifications that guide the automated, iterative design or checking of members. A Design Task is analogous to an Analysis Task in that there can be multiple Design Tasks all of which are saved with the model. Design Tasks must be executed to carry out either a design or a check based on the parameters defined in the task.

The result of a Steel Member design is a new section reference.

Results of the checks are saved as design histories in members and member utilizations that are available for output and contouring.
