Concrete
For concrete design a concrete material grade must be defined. Properties used in the concrete section and slab design are taken from the concrete material grade and not from the analysis material. The Grade Wizard should normally be used to define the concrete grade properties.
Definition
Name
The name is only used as a convenient way of identifying a material.
Standard Grades
The standard grades allows selection from among a predefined set of properties.
Basic Properties
The following basic properties are specified:
- Strength () (subscript varies with design code)
- Density ()
- Failure strain ()
- Elastic modulus ()
- Shear modulus()
- Thermal expansivity ()
- Poisson’s ratio ()
Section Design Properties
The following section design properties properties are specified:
- Strength (taken from basic properties)
- Confining stress (used by confined concrete models only)
- Serviceability state concrete curves for tension and compression
- Strains at peak and maximum stress
- Ultimate state concrete curves for tension and compression
- Strains at plateau and ultimate stress
Slab Design Properties
The following section design properties properties are specified:
- Strength () (taken from basic properties)
- Uncracked design strength ()
- Cracked design strength ()
- Tensile design strength ()
- Plateau strain () (note: this not the same as the plateau strain for section design)
- Failure strain ()
- Maximum axial strain ()
- Constant stress depth ()
Environmental Impact
Clicking Environmental Impact enables environmental impact parameters to be specified for this material by opening the Environmental Impact Wizard. These values then override the global values specified in Environmental Impact Specification for this material.
The current environmental values for the material are reported.
The cost allocates a unit cost to the material.
