The AS 1170 Response Spectrum code is defined using the following parameters from the code.

Site class

Sites are classed as one of A, B, C, D or E depending on the soil.

Probability factor

The probability factor, kp, relates to the annual probability of exceedance.

Hazard design factor

The location-dependent value Z of the hazard design factor from table 3.2.

Spectrum

The spectrum could either be an elastic spectrum or a design spectrum.

Structural performance factor and Structural ductility factor

The performance and ductility factors are based on the the structure type and the material. These are defined in Table 6.5(A).

Frame type

The frame type governs the value of k**t** for use in equation 6.2(7).
