Soil Contact Bearing Pressure

The soil contact bearing pressure is available for output during or after a raft analysis. It is calculated as the vertical reaction at a node divided by the area of foundation as specified in the Soil Interaction table.

The pressure is reported as zero if the node is restrained in the vertical direction. After the analysis this situation will only arise if the node has been restrained explicitly. Note, however, that during raft analysis a temporarily restraint may be applied to a node in order to impose a settlement during the iterative process, to result in the bearing pressure being reported as zero at that stage in the analysis.
