# Numeric format

The Numeric format dialog is accessible from the Diagram settings, Contour settings and Wizard: Output settings dialog boxes, and the Numeric format button on the Data options toolbar.

The numeric format allows the user to adjust the format of numeric output. The default settings are set in the Miscellaneous page of the Preferences.

The options are

Engineering – numbers are output to the specified number of significant figures with exponents that are multiples of 3.
Decimal – a number of decimal places is specified.
Scientific – numbers are output to the specified number of significant figures in exponent form.
