Generate Mesh from Soil Zones/Profiles

GSA provide two methods for soil structure analysis. The legacy version defines the soil with profiles and zones. For a finite element approach to modelling the soil the needs to be meshed with brick elements.

Definition

Element Size

This defines the target size for the elements in the soil mesh.

Boundary Conditions

The soil boundary in the horizontal direction can be modelled in different ways – either restraining the boundary nodes or be creating infinite elements around the boundary.

Tolerance

The limits the distortion in the mesh that is acceptable when moving from one soil zone to another.
