Collapsing coincident nodes

Coincident nodes can be collapsed using the Sculpt > Collapse coincident nodes menu command. The procedure is as follows.

  1. Set the cursor mode to Select nodes.
  2. Select the nodes to be collapsed. Note that only coincident nodes will be collapsed so there is no harm in selecting nodes that are not coincident.
  3. Give the Collapse coincident nodes command.
  4. Specify the coincidence tolerance, i.e. the tolerance used to establish whether two nodes are coincident. (This value defaults to the tolerance for coincidence specified on the Tolerances page of the General Specification dialog box.)

Nodes that are connected by a joint are not collapsed.

Note: If the coincidence tolerance is too coarse, this will result in unusual modifications to the topology of the model.

Note: Other sculpt commands offer the option to collapse coincident nodes created during that sculpt operation.
